Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive procedure for the treatment of acute and chronic pain of the musculoskeletal system.

The shockwaves used in ESWT develop in the tissue at the point in the tissue where the pain originates from. They cause an improvement in local blood circulation and metabolism.

The treatment within the musculoskeletal system has developed because of the successful treatment of kidney stones with lithotrypsy which uses the shockwaves to break up kidney stones.

This technique of shockwave has been successfully used for almost a quarter of a century.

Chronic pain is recognized as a worldwide epidemic. Common conditions such as tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis and heel spurs, calcifications of the shoulder joint and trigger points are a major cause of chronic pain. The use of ESWT to safely and successfully treat these conditions is supported by a wealth of clinical experience and scientific evidence. In short the use of ESWT in the treatment of chronic conditions is suggested to jump start the healing process and reintroduce the acute phase of healing.
